MAPLE FERN - High performing Homes
Maple Fern Homes, alongside our partners, assist clients in designing and building sustainable homes through the adoption of the following five principles. Whilst there are other contributing areas, we believe the following categories carry the greatest influence when it comes to creating a sustainable, energy efficient, high performing home.
Home Orientation
Positioning your high performing home in the correct location on your building platform is key when working with clients to ensure that home orientation is correct for their requirements; maximising the natural resources for both heating and cooling of the home.
Ventilation and Moisture Control
When a high performing home achieves a very low air change rating due to its air tightness, there is a requirement for adequate ventilation. With the installation of positively balanced air systems that introduce fresh air and remove unwanted moisture, this creates a warmer, healthier and drier home.
Environmental Impact
With the effective use of rainwater catchment and native planting initiatives the environmental impact of building can be reduced. By incorporating the use of sustainable practices such as vegetable gardens, fruit trees, composting and recycling.
Thermal Performance
Often overlooked, airtightness and insulation play a pivotal role in the performance of your home. The innovative Intello Airtight Wrap System in conjunction with eco-friendly insulation solutions create a comfortable, sustainable living environment.
Sustainable Materials and Construction
With a large range of materials and construction methods available in today’s building environment, our systems ensure that all materials where possible are environmentally friendly. Our contractors are committed to reducing our environmental footprint by having sustainable construction and waste management systems.
THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Intello, a German-engineered material, is made specifically for New Zealand climatic conditions by pro clima®.
Intello is a high performance vapour check and airtightness membrane that provides optimum protection for all thermal insulation in roofs, walls and floors as well as protecting the internal structure of the building from moisture intrusion.
POSITIVELY BALANCED AIR SYSTEM
The pioneering SmartVent Balance systems are sensible investments in effective home ventilation designed specifically for new build and low-permeability properties.
The warm, moist, stale air is extracted from a central point in the home, through ducting and is passed through the heat exchanger before being exhausted to the outside. Incoming fresh air is filtered and then tempered via the integral heat exchanger which recovers an average of 90% of the heat energy from the home that would otherwise be wasted.
